The inaugural ETM Course was held last weekend in Melbourne, and by all accounts it was a huge success. The participants were a mix of ED Registrars, ED Consultants, some rural GP’s and even a dual ED/ICU trainee who’d just passed his ICU Fellowship exam! We had people from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania and even some from New Zealand!
Here’s what some of the participants had to say about the course:Despite the instructors having never taught on the course before, the mixture of lectures, small group interactive sessions, procedure workshops and scenarios ran very smoothly, and they must have been doing something right, because everyone who attended passed their assessments on the course! From an educational perspective, this was hugely rewarding and from a clinician’s point of view, I felt really great that we’re going to have a positive impact on the care of the seriously injured patients that our participants treat in the future.
And here’s just a small sample of the feedback we got after the course:
“I though the ETM Course was excellent. I can appreciate the amount of work it has taken to get it together. Well done. I felt the course was well-focussed at the registrar level. The manual is truly awesome”.
Trudi – FACEM, Sydney
“Just wanted to thank you and Amit and the rest of the staff for putting together such a great course. I certainly came away with a lot more confidence in my ability to manage major trauma cases. I think it is particularly well suited to registrars early in their training and I will certainly recommend the course to my colleagues”.
John – ED Registrar, NSW
“Thanks to Andy and Amit and the other instructors for the huge time and effort that you have put in for this course. I have learned a lot from you and at the same time I’ve enjoyed my time. So well done and thanks again!”
Omar – FACEM, Adelaide
“Just wanted to say thanks again – was definitely worthwhile and very well run. The experience of the instructors definitely came through in all the sessions and can’t fault any of the program. The SIMs, models and equipment you used was of a high standard and I think this helped make the scenarios and stations feel more relevant and practical”.
Megan – ED Registrar, Melbourne
“Thanks for the well run inaugural ETM course, I can only imagine the time and effort required to set it up and get to that stage. The course manual is a great resource and the ibooks interactive format makes it as good as any course manual I have read”.
Jason – FACEM, NZ
“Your inaugural course exceeded my expectations. The teaching method, assessment and management principles are in keeping with how we look to run our trauma. I will be strongly encouraging our registrars to undertake the ETM course”.
Alan – FACEM, NZ
