The inaugural ETM Course was held last weekend in Melbourne, and by all accounts it was a huge success. The participants were a mix of ED Registrars, ED Consultants, some rural GP’s and even a dual ED/ICU trainee who’d just passed his ICU Fellowship exam! We had people from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania and even some from New Zealand!

Despite the instructors having never taught on the course before, the mixture of lectures, small group interactive sessions, procedure workshops and scenarios ran very smoothly, and they must have been doing something right, because everyone who attended passed their assessments on the course! From an educational perspective, this was hugely rewarding and from a clinician’s point of view, I felt really great that we’re going to have a positive impact on the care of the seriously injured patients that our participants treat in the future.
