ETM Course Accreditation

ETM Course is accredited in Australia for CME/CPD by ACEM, CICM and ACRRM. ANZCA and FPM CPD program participants may claim the ETM Course as a Major Haemorrhage Emergency Response Activity. RACGP members can self record ETM course as a CPD activity.

ACEM college members are required to complete an online evaluation on day 3 of the course. Evaluations will be submitted directly to ACEM. Confirmation of attendance will be submitted to the CPD unit following course completion.

CICM

ETM Course is accredited for CPD with the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Activity name: Emergency Trauma Management Course
Lectures: Category 2A Passive Group Learning, 1 point per hour
Small-Group Procedures: Category 2B Interactive Group Learning, 2 points per hour.

A number of dual ED/ICU trainees have attended ETM Course and felt that the course was definitely worthwhile.

We also strongly encourage sole ICU trainees, and Intensivists who want a refresher to come along. ETM Course will help you understand both the ED team roles as well your role when attending the ED to assist in trauma resuscitation.

ACRRM

The ETM Course attracts 21 hours under the Educational Activities category in the ACRRM PD Program Framework.

RACGP

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development (QI&CPD) Program supports Australian general practitioners (GPs) to maintain and improve their professional knowledge and skills in order to provide the best possible care for patients and their communities.

Following attendance at a course, RACGP members can self-record ETM Course as a CPD activity at 2 points per hour.

ANZCA

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program may claim ETM Course as a Major Haemorrhage Emergency Response Activity in their CPD portfolio. (Recognition code: ER-19-MH-021).

In most hospitals Anaesthetists and Anaesthetic Registrars attend trauma calls and are required to function as part of the trauma team, usually to manage the airway, however, depending on location and staff skill mix, they may be required to team lead the trauma resuscitation. It is therefore important that our anaesthetic colleagues know how to function effectively in an ED team-based resuscitation setting. No other course teaches this.

Anaesthetic-relevant content included in the ETM Course:

Review and practice trauma airway skills including surgical airway and the Vortex approach to the unanticipated difficult airway
Learn how to function as a trauma team member and trauma team leader in a non-operating-theatre environment
Learn resuscitation room management skills
Update your knowledge on anaesthetic-relevant topics such as vascular access, massive transfusion, damage control surgery and resuscitative thoracotomy
